In Laos, long wooden boats glide quietly along the lazy Mekong ferrying fishermen (and tourists) up and down the river. Markets are colorful festivals of exotic fruits and vegetables. Heaping mounds of fried noodles and rice are wrapped up in banana leaf packaging by friendly women in colorful traditional clothing. Away from the river, the Laotian countryside is lush and green while the mountain roads are lined with the wooden huts of the local villagers. Children delight in greeting every passing foreigner with broad smiles and shouts of “Sabaidee!” These Laos travel photos will whet your appetite for a visit to one of Southeast Asia’s most enticing countries.
